According to reports reaching here, the five government schools in Spin Kada, Dhand Garhi and Shalon Talab areas were torched and later blown up by militants.
Militants were also reported to have set 15 houses on fire. Helicopter gunships pounded suspected militant positions in the region and killed eight militants. Official sources said five militant bunkers had been destroyed in Merobek, Surgul, Sherin Dara and Bezot areas.
Meanwhile, a mortar shell launched by the militants hit the house of a tribesman Dadir Khan in Liari area, killing four people, including two women.
According to one sources, four militants were killed by a roadside bomb, but their leader Noor Jamal narrowly escaped.
But other source conveyed in detail that some jet fighters and helicopter gunships continued shelling the hideouts and compounds of the militants in Shireen Darra, Kok Darra, Bezot, Merobak, Chwaro Killay, Surgul and Sultanzai areas in lower parts of Orakzai Agency. The sources said 10 militants were killed and 10 others wounded in the operation and six of their hideouts were destroyed.
The sources said Commander Noor Jamal alias Mulla Toofan, along with other militants, was on his way from Kir Kalamkhel to upper parts of Orakzai Agency when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Mamozai area, leaving four militants dead including Mulla Toofan and three others injured.
According to sources, key militant commander Ziaur Rehman alias Zewar was killed during between two groups of Taliban in Mashti area. His head money was Rs.10 million.
The sources said four persons, including two women, were killed when a shell hit the house of Qabil Khan in Lera Ferozkhel. Nine persons, including five women, sustained injuries when another shell hit a house in Chappar Meshti village.
Tribal sources said the militants’ torched 15 houses of the pro-government tribesmen and a Basic Health Unit in Marghan, the Government High School in Toti Bagh and the Government Primary School in Utmankhel.
The Talibans of the area have been demanding orthodox Islamic education in all level and such a health system void from birth control propaganda or medical contraceptive. They also apply “brunt-soil” policy, so that the Govt. & military will not be able to use any built construction for the use and safety of the military forces.
The local sources authenticated the intolerance of the Talibans about any thing which is un-Islamic like general education, co-education, birth-control with contraceptive, uni-sex beauty parlours etc.
